Picture
RYCA Land & Cattle Company is located outside of Wickenburg, Arizona. We take pride in the fact that our cattle are 100% grass-fed, hormone free and raised in a stress free open range environment.

A little about grass-fed beef as compared to classic grain-fed beef:
•500% more CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid - a good fat)
•400% more Vitamin A
•300% more Vitamin E
•75% more Omega-3
•78% more Beta-carotene

In animal studies, 11 out of 11 studies surveyed showed CLA decreases cancer.

•Four out of five found a decrease in body fat associated with CLA.
•Two out of two found a decrease in heart disease.
•Two out of two have found increased bone density.
•Three out of three have found a decrease in adult diabetes.

Or just “Google” grass-fed cattle/beef and see the enormous amounts of data and research showing the benefits of grass-fed beef.

Our beef is processed locally, Department of Agriculture inspected, dry aged for two weeks to concentrate flavors and achieve optimum tenderness and then optional fresh delivery or vacuum packed/butcher paper packed and frozen for freshness. At times we  sell individual cuts of beef on an as available basis and 1/4 to whole cow beef for those looking for the best value.

Pricing:

$6.50 / LB Hanging Weight (HWT), Delivered Metro Phoenix Area for ¼ or greater.
*Call for special pricing on smaller or bulk and delivery for outside Phoenix Metro Area.

¼’s are averaging about 100 pounds Hwt. Hwt is weight before dry aging. Package weight is approximately 20% lower than Hwt . Depending on the size of the quarter, cost is about $650 (includes processing/packaging and delivery.)

How Much Will We Get?

An average animal from our grass fed herd typically weighs between 700 and 900 lbs and is under 30 months of age when it is ready for slaughter.  An animal of 900 lbs. usually produces about 400 lbs. of packaged meat.  Roughly 1/3 of the meat comes in the form of roasts, 1/3 as steaks, and 1/3 as ground beef.  For an estimate on the breakdown, review the listing below which shows how one processor we use typically packages meat.

Cross Rib —4 roasts
Chuck—12 roasts
Rib Steak-14 steaks
Sirloin Tip—4 roasts
Brisket—4 half briskets
New York Strip - 6 steaks
Tri-tip—4 steaks
Porterhouse—6 steaks
T-Bone—6 steaks
Top Sirloin—12 steaks
Bottom Round—4 roasts
Round Steak—14 roasts
Tenderloin—6 steaks
Top Round—8 London broils
Plate/Shank - 14 shanks
Flank—2 steaks
Short Ribs—12 packages of 4
Stew Meat—12 one pound packages
Hamburger—about 100 one pound packages
Soup Bones—6 packages
Dog Bones—4 packages

If you order 1/4 animal, the processor will process the animal according to what they find to be most popular cuts and most appropriate for the individual animal based on its age, leanness and so forth.  You will receive approximately 1/4 of those cuts.

If you order a 1/2 or whole animal, you have the ability to customize a bit of your order.  Or if you prefer, you can simply take the advice of the butcher.  For instance, you may prefer to have some/all your roasts ground, or have most of the bones removed, or have high quality stew meat, or...  There are many more options when you buy a half animal or more!

A typical 20 cubic foot home freezer can store between 700 and 800 lbs of beef - roughly twice as much room needed for a whole animal.

If you have a typical side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, a 1/4 animal will fill roughly 1/2 of the freezer side.
